One of my very favorite evenings of the summer was when we packed the car full of beach blankets, firewood + all things cozy heading straight for the shore. On the way, we stopped at our favorite Thai place in Camden + got some takeout. We had some of our most cherished people in the world meet us at the beach and let the evening unfold. It made for the perfect, simple night gathered with friends + family.
I wanted to show YOU how to host an intimate beach picnic – simply + easily:
➀ Keep it simple!
Bringing this concept alive can seem daunting to some. The first time we did it – it was for me. I tried to bring too much and do too much which ended up with us missing the sunset because we were late. Instead, this time we opted for takeout because it meant less prep time + easy clean up BUT you could easily bring a cheese board + salami or make sandwiches before hand. Rather than bringing lots of dishes + tons of food – keep it simple, keep it light.
➁ Bring beautiful + durable gear!
The same goes for your decor as I said above – keep it simple! We packed our beach blankets into our favorite durable bag from Forest Bound (they’re a local New England company that I fell in love with years ago from a pin on Pinterest: seen here). I’m an aesthetics fiend, so I like to have all of our beach gear be simple + understated while also being sturdy and reliable. In our ESCAPE bag, we packed our round beach towel from Fair Seas Supply Co. + our beach blanket from Amuse Society that are both easy to clean and great for the sand. By having simple pieces on hand that you can quickly grab – little gatherings like this are a breeze.
➂ Don’t forget the essentials!
Make sure to grab:
firewood, newspaper + lighter
an extra blanket in case it cools off
a bottle opener or wine opener
+ some brews or your favorite bottle of vino
utensils + extra napkins
a fun polaroid camera
a swimsuit for if you decide to jump in (unless you prefer to skinny dip! lol)
and don’t forget bug spray!
Carla was so kind to bring the beautiful flowers that evening. It was such a sweet gesture + made my night! You can always go a step farther + bring some flowers or even some string lights for ambiance. Put it all in your tote and head for the beach!
Whether you live in a seaside town, or are on vacation – dinner enjoyed by the beach can easily be done! Being raised in Utah, we never had these types of nights so every time we head to the beach when the sun is setting, I am giddy. It always makes for such a fun night + with these tips, you can easily recreate it time + time again.
Welcome the stars
with wine and guitars.
Unwind, connect with the people around your fire + unplug.
